WHO WE ARE: BAND MEMBERS
LIL LIVELY – Vocals, Percussion
From California, and then Aspen for many years, Lil began working her vocal talents at a quite young age – singing hymns in church. She discovered the warmth and vibrations of her voice at an early age – and now, many years later, is now dubbed the “Queen of Rock N Roll”. Her mesmerizing on-stage presence and vocal talents with All Day Affair and The Classix has thrilled audiences for more than fifteen years throughout Colorado. Lil’s musical influences range from Judy Garland to Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt. She is also an original founding member of The Classix
DARCY VAIL – Vocals, Guitar, Percussions
With an eclectic professional career spanning stints from an acoustic trio thru a five-part ‘40’s style vocal jazz group, Darcy is well loved appreciated by many fans of The Classix. Her fondness for jazz, swing and blues brings well-rounded vocal and guitar talents to the band. With her contagious on-stage enthusiasm, combined with her wide range of vocal talents, Darcy always “catches fire” with the band, whether it is smooth acoustic harmonies, blues or straight-ahead rock n roll.
STEPHEN JOURDAN – Guitar, Vocals
Steve has worked as an active performer since he was seventeen years of age. His amazing on-stage guitar work, from stylized acoustic to scrumptious rock n roll, continues to thrill a variety of audiences. His versatility, playing delicious leads in well-know rock n roll songs, to “sit back and enjoy” tunes brings joy to many types of groups. Steve is an accomplished singer and songwriter and has written more than fifty songs – and recorded multiple CD’s. In addition to his many eclectic guitar talents, he also brings a wide array of vocal skills to The Classix - with his spirited personality shining through every song.
RICK JONES – Keyboard, Vocals
With piano lessons as a young child - strongly encouraged by his parents – Rick found his musical talent in classical music for most of his youth. His early days, playing gospel, blues and rock-a-billy, provided many opportunities for him as a session player and playing keys with a number of bands. His musical background, as a keyboard player and back-up singer, includes a wide array of stints with “The Blues Brother’s Tribute Band in Portland, The Norman Sylvester Band, The Linda Hornbuckle Band – and now with The Classix in Colorado. Rick’s musical influences range from Billy Preston, Ray Charles, Stevie Ray, Van Morrison and Chicago.
JOE YOUMANS – Bass, Vocals
With a quite dubious start in life as a minister’s kid, Joe a/k/a “Joey” found his musical niche in choirs, symphony, and gospel music. From that point on, his talents in trumpet, vocals, and harmonies led him through bands, quartets, concerts and a stint in the U.S. Air Force Show Band. His gravitation to rock n roll came in the ‘60’s with influences from The Beatles, Eagles, Doobies and other ‘60’- ‘70’s bands. Only a few years ago, Joe decided to hurt his fingers playing bass guitar, and also enjoys working out the vocal harmonies of The Classix.. Additionally, Joe is a founding member of The Classix…and manages the band – which sometimes hurts even more.
TIM GREUEL Percussion
Tim grew up in Milwaukee in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s in a very musical family who loved to listen and play music. His influences in those early years were The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and similar rock n roll bands at that time. Later on, bands like Pink Ployd, Yes, Kansas and Rush opened his eyes and ears to drumming – percussion and rhythms were now in his blood - and needed to be played from the heart and soul. Finally leaving Syracuse, NY and moving to Denver, he and The Classix discovered each other. Tim’s passionate style of performance in his percussion work is a valuable contribution to The Classix – and a crowd pleaser.
